Frequently Asked Questions About Our Classical Homeschool Program
Find answers to commonly asked questions about our online homeschool programs and curriculum offerings for ages 8 to 18.
What is classical education?
Classical education is a time-tested approach to learning rooted in the Trivium: Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric stages. Students build strong foundations in language, history, literature, and logic before moving into analytical thinking and persuasive communication.
At Get Classically Educated, our classical homeschool curriculum combines structured academics with mentor-led guidance, helping students develop wisdom, discernment, and strong communication skills.

Is this an online classical homeschool program?
Yes. GCE is a fully online classical homeschool program serving families nationwide.
We offer:
– A hybrid model combining live, mentor-led online classes with independent study
– Curriculum-only (parent-led) options
Families can participate from anywhere, while maintaining the flexibility of homeschooling.
How many hours per week is the live program?
Our live classical program includes approximately four hours of mentor-led instruction per week.
Students then complete guided independent assignments at home.
This structure provides academic accountability without full-day screen time — making it ideal for families seeking a part-time online homeschool program.
What is the difference between live classes and curriculum-only?
Live Online Classes
– Weekly mentor-led instruction
– Structured discussions and guided readings
– Writing feedback and academic accountability
– Community learning environment
Curriculum-Only Option
– 30 or 32 week structured curriculum agenda
– Parent-led instruction at home
– Flexible pacing
– Ideal for independent learners or family-style instruction
Both options follow the same classical framework.
What are the Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric stages?
Our program follows the traditional Trivium model:
Grammar Stage (Elementary or ages 8-11)
Focuses on foundational knowledge, reading comprehension, narration, and early writing skills.
Dialectic Stage (Middle School or ages 11-14)
Develops logical thinking, analysis, debate, and structured writing.
Rhetoric Stage (High School or ages 14-18)
Centers on persuasive communication, advanced composition, and synthesis of ideas.
Each stage builds intentionally upon the previous one.
Is this program suitable for Florida homeschool families?
Yes. GCE is based in Florida and serves many Florida homeschool families.
While we are not an official Step Up provider, families may submit tuition for potential reimbursement according to their scholarship guidelines.
We also provide structured documentation that supports homeschool record-keeping requirements.
Is this a full-time online school?
No. GCE is a structured homeschool program, not a full-time virtual school.
Families remain in control of their homeschool while receiving academic structure and live instructional support.
This model works especially well for:
– Families wanting academic rigor without full-day screen time
– Students transitioning from traditional school
– Homeschool families seeking accountability and community
Can my student participate if we are not in Florida?
Yes. Our online classical homeschool program serves families nationwide.
All live classes are conducted virtually, and curriculum-only materials can be used anywhere.
What subjects are included?
Our classical curriculum integrates:
– Literature
– Writing and composition
– History
– Logic
– Discussion and rhetoric
Rather than isolating subjects, we teach in an integrated, classical framework.
